In the Money!
Well, my long hard think over my recent poker humiliation (scroll down) was worth it - I finished in the money tonight! OK, so it was third place, prize being $10 house cash...I'll take it, man!
Favorite hand was a pair of pocket 5's. I somewhat hesitantly stayed in and lo and behold, flopped trips. I was somewhat late in the betting and there was a bet, and a guy I'll call Mr. X had already raised. I noticed there were two diamonds on the table - a flush would spell disaster for my lovely 5's, so I re-raised.
Mr. X must have sat and thought about it for 3 or 4 minutes before finally folding. I took the pot, and Mr. X talked about that re-raise all freakin' night. There was a lot of card-peeking going on at this particular game - and we confirmed on this hand that X would have gotten his flush on the river. But we all know how hard it would have been to hang around for that river, what with me betting my ass off on 4th street!
