If you haven't read it, go right now and read Christopher Hitchens's memorable evisceration of Michael Moore. This comment:
He prefers leaden sarcasm to irony and, indeed, may not appreciate the distinction, sums up everything I've ever tried to say in my old "Lefty Satire Watch" blog entries. But that's just one sentence out of a couple hundred that you MUST READ.
I'll continue riding the train, despite this report that it might not be doing any good (that being my original intention for riding.) I'm getting a lot of writing and reading done so it's really one of the better parts of my day.

Nay, Bro'. The article refers to inter-city rail, which is a different animal altogether than subway trains like our light and beloved MARTA. We're doing good by riding that train. The planned Atlanta trolley system should also reduce pollution and congestion. The bullet train corridors they're talking about building all over the Southeast are another story--I hope the regional transit authorities aren't just building big steel monuments to themselves.

I rue for the days of train ridin'. Rode the subway daily in NYC in those days, and also used the Chicago system frequently, although I had to have a car fer my werk. Florida is debating a high-speed line twixt Orlando, Tampa and Miami, but it might never happen. Mag Lev me, baby!-ff
