Mitch links to a great-sounding interview with Mike Nelson of MST3K. I've bought two MST3K DVD's this year, and purposely stuck with classic Joel Hodgson eps, but I might have to check out Mike too.

Oh, anyway, I'm getting my DVD's via Netflix now. I'll be renting a few from there.

Mike's got some funny episodes, but he's a real asshole. I ran afoul of him years ago on the alt.tv.mst3k newsgroup.

(The same newsgroup, incidently, where I met Dr. Kate. You always knew we were geeks, but you never suspected the depths to which it runs.)

Believe it or not, you told me that. I guess you must have trusted me not to reveal y'all's geekiness. I always liked that story, and Kate's just wonderful, so the geek factor is long expired on that particular escapade.

Besides, we met through a newsgroup too...what are you trying to say?

I suspect one could do a whole lot worse, in terms of finding a compatible person, than to frequent a newsgroup or such of like-minded people.

But please, do tell me if you tried meeting up with any Neutopians prior to meeting Kate.

As for Mike, that's a pity. What did you do to the poor man?

I did nothing. When Best Brains first got the Internet, Mike and his wife, Briget, essentially started treating it as a toy. They came on under the pseudonym "Bunny Crumhunger" and started taunting the fans - essentially calling us geeks and losers. I got into it with them a little bit, but I was provoked.

Did I tell you about Neutopia, or did you find that one on your own? I did not ever meet any Neutopians in person, although I have had a couple of interesting phone calls with a couple of them. The Doctress herself lives only a couple of hours drive away from here.

Comments

Just to clarify - the Neutopians I talked to were the Monster Truck Neutopians, not the OrthoNeuts.

Pathetically, I remember the answer to this. Call it a gift.

I recall you observed a license plate that had "MTN" on it and made reference to the Monster Truck Neutopians, so I learned about the Doctress that way.
